Fishing Resorts/Rentals within 4 Hours of Chicago

I've lived in Michigan most of my life and have fished most of the state upper and lower peninsula's. There's stream and river fishing, small lake fishing, and great lake fishing. Traverse city has become quite the tourist trap, but a very cool area, you can go on the out skirts and save quite a bit, Kaleva area 30 minutes or so from Traverse has Tippy damn a major trout run of the Manistee river which hits the damn where there are stuck. there are backwaters of the damn that offer some fish mainly pike. but you can follow the Manistee down river and catch nice Trout. Season opens in three days. april 26th, what is cool you can hit some smaller streams and brooke trout fish, which taste better than the bigger trout, IMO, east of there near Vanderbilt and Gaylord but the ice storms destroyed those areas. so northern central michigan is pretty messed up now. I grew up in the Irish hills, where M.I.S. speedway is in Brooklyn, has hundreds of lakes. Wamplers is a good one there, bluegill pike, crappie, and bass. bass season opens on may 25th, but you can catch and release anytime and keep the other than bass. there are houses on verbo etc. for rent. thats about 3 1/2, 4 hours from Chicago. Friends of mine own Jerry's pub on the lake you can drive a boat up and dock have dinner and drinks. I live about 30 minutes north of there now and frequent the area often. Lake Erie is about an hour from there so you can rent a charter there and walleye fish, I usually don't eat the fish from Erie but are fun to catch. thats just a few areas.

@MarPar Mario, are you looking to target a particular species or just general fishing, and see what comes to hand?
