Gents!

Just as the title says, looking for a fishing resort/rental to go to in mid July of this year that is around 4 hours away from Chicago.

Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, maybe Ohio (Lake Erie?).

On a lake, boat rental a plus (depending on size of lake-my tinny is electric only at present), stand-alone cabin with heat/AC, kitchen etc., restaurant on grounds or nearby, guide would be good too. Somewhere nice and relaxing. lol

I don't mind paying up for a nice place.

I appreciate any experiences (good or bad!) and any thoughts.

:thankyou:

Cross the border... I'll put you up! You bring the steaks.... (mind you, it's about 12 hours each way!)

Sorry I can’t be more specific, but back in the day, my corporate employer had a summer home/compound in Traverse City, Michigan. We stayed there for a corporate retreat in 1994. Beautiful area.

Instead of golfing with the mainstream, I chartered a fishing boat and caught a couple nice coho salmon. I’m sure many options are still available there.

In 1969 I visited the area with my parents, who were friends with a couple who had a summer retreat in the area. Attended a summer theatre production that week, saw young Blythe Danner onstage in bra and panties. Great memories.

LOL... only a 12 hour drive! and then we do the back lakes.. LOL. I am serious if you can ever make it work! We have LOTS of neighbours from Michigan and Ohio on the island close to ours.

12 hours taint too bad. It takes us 10 to get to the boundary waters in Minnesota for our yearly trip in September.

With a little bit of planning, it might just work for next year.

Lets talk towards the end of the year...

Traverse City is probably around 8 hours away from Chicagoland. I’ve never been there but hear it’s beautiful.
Though Traverse City itself is said to be OK, the area around there is a disaster area now. A terrible ice storm a month ago heavily damaged most of far northern Michigan.

Aw man that's a shame. Thank you for the heads up!

I'm partial to Charlevoix Michigan myself! Six Hours. You won't want to leave!
6 hours could be do-able. Thanks Paulie!

You can’t beat that deal and you get a plane ride possibly. Actually necessary. Pretty certain Wayne has well over 500 hours air time, maybe 1000’s.
Just maybe the offer pertains to what you own!!!

A paltry 22 hrs will get you to 440 4 speeds! I think he has a new que too
