Flaming River Manual Quick Ratio Box

I had the Flaming River unit--yanked it out in favor of a firm power unit from Steer & Gear--nice firm feel while not breaking my arms--I'm 70 and ache in too many places without adding my arms and shoulders to the mix.

I had an issue getting my pitman arm on the FR Quick ratio for my '69 RR. I bought two separate pitman arms from two different companies and neither would go on more than 80% on the steering box sector. I created a thread on this forum about it.
I called one of the pitman arm companies and he said that they have had issues ONLY with FR steering boxes.
At first I thought it was the pitman arm being mis-machined, but after getting the second pitman arm both from known manufactorers I concluded that FR is the issue. IF I had to do it all over again knowing what I know now, I'd go with Firm Feel or Rack n pinion. Not worth the time, energy etc...

Just my experience, take as a grain of salt.

I have a FR quick ratio manual box on my rr. I love it, might put one on my dart in the future. My pitman arm doesn't go quite all the way up either, didn't seem to bother anything though. And I drive it fast on less than optimal roads..

68HEMIGTS, do you know about how many threads show on the bottom of the sector? Or have a photo of it? I'm trying to gauge how close mine may be to yours in terms of how much the pitman arm is engaged on the sector.
I have 2 threads showing now beyond the nut.
Thanks.

i'll take a look and snap a picture next time im out there.
