Flat Gray paint over chrome? DIY ‘65 console restore

Hello All,

Started fixing up my ‘65 Console plate and frame. Sent the plate to be rechromed, and now I’m looking to apply the flat gray layer these had.

Anyone done this before? Anyone know what paint will leave this flat gray look?

I truly don’t know, but I’m going to look into it. You might be right.

The argent is what I have heard is used from the guys around here. Had to ask when they started "borrowing" the can I had.

I have used Krylon Dull Aluminum for this on my console.

Krylon also makes a Satin Black that I have used on a lot of stuff.

It was the standard Mopar Rally wheel paint.
