How many teeth would be on my 727 auto trans fly wheel, I am at some point going to change to 18 spline 4 speed ,I just bought but does the fly wheel have to be changed? To a 143 tooth fly wheel.

In general the auto to stick conversion requires a stick flywheel with 172 teeth - 11" dia. - or 143 teeth - 10 1/2" dia. - to match which ever bellhousing you will be using. The clutch will be either 11" or 10 1/2" also. All three must match

In your case, the 18 spline Hemi input bearing retainer diameter is larger than the 440-400-383 23 spline trans, so you will need a Hemi bellhousing or an aftermarket scattershield as they usually can accomodate either trans. Most big block scatteshields are machined for the larger Hemi input bearing retainer and come with a reducer to accept the smaller 23 spline input.

Hope this helps.

Your question sounds like you believe that there is a flywheel in your 727.
