Where I live, Cloverdale, the area where Surrey got started. Cloverdale was a rail hub for various different railroads of the day. That dash/dot line at the bottom of the map is the U.S. border.
Here's the Cloverdale Station in 1910 where electrified inter-urban rail sent passengers to and from nearby communities before road and highway infrastructure took over.
Today, the station is a museum, offering excursion rides on a couple of restored rail coaches. I've been on the trip, it's a great deal of fun.
