When you send it to Brewers you can pay for the box/return label to be sent to you and off it goes....This was done over 6 months ago. Part of the delay was that the main case had to get repaired in the thrust washer boss areas and Passion Performance is the only one who does this...

The number 6353 on the reverse flicker designates a 69 unit

The 69 Hurst shift handle is the press in type and they install new holders. The sticker is something most have never seen. That was installed on each unit originally and its purpose was to retain the pin in place during shipment. At the factory when it was installed they ripped the tag off. Even though mine had no remnants of one but since I acquired one....Made it look like the line worker just slammed the bolt through it and didn't remove it.

The original hurst retainer plate was cleaned up. The shifter rod and brackets etc got heat treated.

Hurst shifter unit installed and rods. The allen bolts for the retainer plate I used antisieze on the threads. The two main bolts I used a little assembly grease.

Very cool and looking fantastic. Is there a book that shows what the marks mean and what colors go where? I know you are using your old parts and documenting everything from originals. But how about someone who has no markings on their parts...what reference can they use to duplicate the factory markings?

Original bolts were restored and reused. Here I am comparing news ones from Brewers in which the head markings are not correct....

The best reference is what you have to uncover on yours first....I asked an expert if I missed anything and they said basically no two transmissions are alike and some of what I had they have not seen. There is no clear cut guide. Overall, a good reference is pics like I have shown above, Dave Weiss books(list some), and other restorations. It is not a clear cut area due to all the variations...Then add to the fact that different years and plants did different things....

One thing that is consistent with trans markings is the large numbers. For example mine has 605 and that is for a 440/426 18 spline transmission. Other years are well documented in relation to those numbers.

I have stripped probably 50 plus cars and have seen a lot of markings on many components. I had 10 four speeds at one time. One an actual hemi, 4 18 splines and the rest 23 spline all 66-70. 2 18 spline had the 605 and the rest had nothing...The one out of the X had the most I have ever seen on one trans....

BTW 3 wood...you can PM me anytime if you have questions about specific markings ect. I will try to help you the best I can.....but when it comes to pre 68 or post 70 I have limited knowledge in those areas...

It is about time you opened up that package from the 80's lol......You are in this "Old House" country....I bet that ruler got some usage in the past few weeks, eh?

Maybe that is why the one I bought was on sale....

Very impressive; your passion comes through loud and clear. Your restoration would make a great MOPAR coffee table book or even a reference book. A tribute to your father who was obviously a great one. He's up there with my mom; similar story, and lost her to cancer 12-24-2013. She fought stage 4 pancreatic cancer for 9 years without pain meds.
