Frame straightening

in the old days we used center line gauges and tram gauges and other means today it a new system and they are always changing and they are not cheap please forgive me I foregot Mr. Wonderful was in this

well you can see all has changed since I started in this trade and it will always change all to quick even painting has changed a lot over the years since I started and it is changing ever to quick now , even the automotive finishes have changed alot

ANYTHING that preserves these cars vs sending them to the crusher is ok by me, as long as they are safe and not bondo buggies.

when I broke into the trade we would get fired if we used bondo glazing putties we metal finished and used lead

for the young guys today there are a lot of videos to help you out but there are those terrible guys that are hacks

sad thing is you never have enough body hammers dollies body picks and files plus you have to make and modify them in the automotive trade you are always buying and upgrading tools same goes for the painters

I'm not sure if there was mention of aluminum framed cars in this thread.
Having worked in a fab shop with both steel and aluminum structures I learned and dealt with fixes for damage. They are not the same.
Steel is rather compliant and likes to go back to the shape it was. Aluminum -not so much.

I saw this car @ Pomona earlier this year. Marcel is in Corona which is only about 35 miles from me. I lived in Corona on & off throughout the 90's.
I didn't realize You were in the 'biz' Snake......I've been in & out for 45 years. I think today's paint systems suck......15 times as expensive & hold out for ****. PPG Delstar, DuPont Centari, Sherwin Williams Akrylyd single stage acrylic enamels far outlast today's crap. In the 80's I was paying 20.00 a gallon for black, white PPG Delstar, 10.00 for pint of catalyst & 7.00 for a gallon of reducer. & if it ain't metalic, the extra expense &&& WORK, & more chance of **** to go wrong, of 2 & 3 stage systems is horseshit. This is single stage Delstar that was shot in 1990 & I sanded & polished just recently. Was like sanding a cinder block but **** that works hard gives me more confidence in the hold out
PPG just discontinued Delstar, but some colors are still available in Centari. Contemporary PPG Fleet is absolute JUNK!!
