Ive been having this problem with my satallite wagon running jerky in mid range and have been pulling my hair out why....
I started thinking maybe its universal joints.... thats what i would think bad u-joints would feel like.
When its cruising at like 25-30 mph its kinda clunkin back and fourth. i thought it was a miss but now i dont think so.
I went under to check them out and they seemed pretty tight the rear one did have i tiny bit of movement and i will prolly replace them but what i did see is that the yolk going into the transmission seemed to have a lot of play and would clunk back and forth quite a bit.
Is this normal or is there a bushing or something that could be bad or missing?
The tailshaft is dry and it doesnt appear to be leaking... all around the pan gasket is leaking but the seal around the yolk is dry.

when i rotate the driveshaft it clunks and seems to have slop. doesnt seem to move up and down or anything but play when rotating.

does it clunk when your accelerating or turning or all the time??

it clunks when im holding a speed around 25mph.
the clunk i feel is either from between the yolk and the transmission or from inside the transmission. when i hand turn the yolk i can feel it while its in neutral.

i guess thats what i get from trying to bring back to life a car that sit in a muddy field for prolly 20+ years....
