Fuel Injection the steep learning curve!!

I like to see a negative cable going from the battery all the way to the block as well then from the block to chassis. Any chance your problem could be from lack of grounding?

Needed that big of an alternator sounds ridiculous for fuel injection, it's a computer, fuel pump and solenoids?

I don't think I needed that big of an alternator. What happened is out of frustration I started throwing parts at the car to solve the problem. That didn't work of course!LOL
I put it back together yesterday morning.I found that the 1 gauge ground strap that I put in a year and half ago when I wired the car wasn't grounded correctly.I had added a
air pump in May and put the strap to the painted bracket and the other side was grounded to the sway bar mount which is coated metal mounted to the painted frame.I feel like an idiot at the moment.I ran the trap to the alternator and drilled and tapped a hole in the frame making sure I sanded the paint off and well now it works.I can't really test it other than starting it and warming the car up because of the snow but I have my dyno session scheduled in a week and a half so hopefully that was the problem and it stay charging while being tuned.
Unfortunately when I drove home last month the vibration is coming back so now I will need to start looking into that again.
Thanks,Joe

Sounds like you at least found the charging gremlin. Dollars to donuts that was definitely your issue!

747mopar (Devin) fought with driveline vibrations for a while he should be able to give you some tips there or check out his viper transmission install thread in the engine and and transmissions section

You gotta tell the car to stop fighting you Joe!! Lol

After reading your post a ground is the first thing I thought of. I still like to see the ground cable ran all the way to the front as well simply because steel is no where near as conductive as copper. I fasten it as close to the starter as possible then to the chasis and even throw a third one to the firewall.

I laughed at the kits that have just a short ground cable.. Your ground should be as direct as your power.

Yeah, they're basically encouraging people to not do it correctly!

I'd be interested how you came to the conclusion that you had to go 250 amps in an alternator to run fuel injection. There are vehicles that have stable charging systems, run 8 80lb. injectors at 7000 r.p.m. and have only 130 amp units. I should add that many of these vehicles have accessories to the hilt ( power everything ) and still have charge to spare. You'll need the boost just to run the alt and the excess load will cost you dearly. You definitely have a hidden electrical gremlin that I think you need to address or carry a trunk load of fire extinguishers.

There are not very many companies that offer different size alternators for BB chrysler. When I found this one I decided to order it so I would have enough amperage.
12V DC is not my strong point.I understand 120v AC a lot better so when comes to low volt I have to ask questions.
I added all my systems together to start. I run two fuel pumps, two electric fans,1000w amp for the subs,400w amp for the component speakers, the computer and all the other electrical devices.
I also talked to the company that does my tuning and asked what amperage they recommended. Thats how I got there with that.
I can't test right now to see if the ground was the culprit of the problem until the snow melts.

Thanks Devin, That is the next step is to connect the battery ground all the way through.

LOL!! I don't understand I treat the car so well too.I wash her,do burn outs, shift at 6700 RPM,make people wipe there feet before they get in.What more would a car ask for.

I think I finally got the injection sorted out. Here are My last three pulls on the dyno today.
I thought I had a video but I guess I didn't hit record.Sucks cause the car sounded so nasty.I am a bonehead.
Charging system held and the car made five pulls at 835 to 847 horse with 875+ torque .
The final pull was the best. 903HP and 957 Torque
We're In the middle of a snow storm here in the springs I could barely get the car on the trailer and when I got home I had to take a running start to get the car in the driveway. Totally covered in snow. SUCKS!
We need some nice weather so I can finally see what she runs like with the injection.

Damn Joe! That is straight NASTY!!! Would have loved to see that video but really just happy to hear after all the trouble you've gone through that it's looking up!

Is that still around 15 psi? Those are crazy numbers especially for rwhp.. In a DRIVER! lol

Thanks Mike, yeah that is @15 psi. When the weather breaks and we get some clear roads I am going to try and video the car. Maybe this time I will hit record.LOL

Holy cow!!!!! You need some serious tires under that thing, I can't even imagine how nasty 903 hp must feel! Way to go.

LOL. I was use to driving the car with the carburetor set up.On the Dyno the carb did 840HP 839TQ once and the rest of the pulls were around 780 or less .When I drove the car
this summer it was always hot so I am guessing it was making around 750HP or less . With the injection and intercooler the car made consistent pulls at around 840HP and 870TQ with the best being 903.
I need to learn how to drive it again. I took the car out Monday night before the snow came through and got into it like I would before and well its a different car.The cold roads didn't help but I tried to run through the gears and I could't do it. When I got into boost and shifted into third the tires were just spinning and I couldn't keep the car straight. But I love all that power. It's a rush!

Quite an improvement! Glad to see your getting it sorted out. Any chance of getting some slicks on it and heading to the strip? In the spring of course! lol

I am looking forward to running the car. I have a spare set of 17"rims that I used to role the car around when I was building it. I am going to get a set of drag radials or slicks and see what she will do.Most likely drag radials to start I am a little inexperienced at drag racing so I would like something with a little give so I don't launch it into the wall.

Here is the link to Under Pressure Performances Facebook of my car on the Dyno, this is the pull when the car hit 903Hp.I'm the goober in the hoody and the ear muffs walking by my car.
Thanks,Joe

That is incredible... Makes my dream of 600 hp seam weak..

Unbelievable car Joe, looks and sounds great. Bet you're having trouble sleeping at night waiting for the weather to get better.
