can anyone provide a recomendation for a fuel sending unit? I have heard that I should stay away from the Chinese brands as they don't have the propert ohm curve.

I have a 69 Coronet with a 340.

Thanks.

Correct...No Chinese

I get mine from instrument specialties

Oh Geez.... I think they're ALL Chinese brands. I have one from Spectra Premium and it reads REALLY off. Honestly, I would rebuild an original one if at all possible. I wish I'd kept my original :(

Instrument Specialties are not Chinese brands....

If you have the old one, get it repaired or rebuilt if possible.

Can you pull one out of a 69 without dropping the tank?

Yes, sort of. If you run the tank bolts all the way out to the end and pull the tank down you should be able to service it. Takes a bit of twisting and cussing but it can be done.

Yes, no need to drop the darn tank. Jack up the rear of the car and put jack stands under the car frame just in front of the rear tires this and lower car down onto jack stands. Now you can jack up or down the rear axle and get to the sending unit with tank in the car.

Here is my unit. I can't find markings on it so I'm not sure if it is stock.

Is there supposed to be liquid in the float? That might be my issue if the float won't float?

The end near float is ugly. Did it have a sock on the end or is that dirty thing the sock. Floats you can buy them. You can test it now that it's out. Judging by the look of that I'd pull the tank and have it cleaned.

383 sending unit.....As Fran said time to check the tank as well....

If it is a stock unit pm's and chrysler stamp will be on the outside face of the sending unit on the outer edge

The end looks like a hose not a sock. I have thought that the tank looked like it had sediment sitting at the bottom when I have looked in there. How would I go about cleaning it out? Just water or something else?

Also, the sediment might explain why I have two steel filters and one yellow filter on my fuel line up in the engine bay.

This is the most expensive tank on ebay. Made in Canada $169.The low cost is $104. The other guys will probably have cheaper idea's. Boil it out or use tank sealer to coat inside of tank.
With tank sealer the problem use to be peeling because of the new gas. Guys with more experience will have an answer.

I have a 68-70 Plymouth B body gas tank non CA emissions new in box. I have no plans on using it and if that works for your application I will sell it for $50.00 plus shipping costs....

Guys that offer is open to anyone else if he doesn't need it, just pm me...

If that doesn't work or you decide a different route then I would flush it out and seal it.
