Working on my 62 Dodge build and I am wondering what I need to do for my fuel system...

I have a new stock tank and a 1/2" pickup. I have a new stainless 3/8" fuel line for the chassis. Engine is a 540 with a cross ram and 2 750 AFBs.

It's a street car that will get raced in the 1/4 mile.

I was just planning to run an electric pump close to the tank but I don't know what pump I should use... I don't want a really loud pump since I will street drive this car as well.

Also is that 3/8" chassis line going to be big enough?

How does a stock tank work on a drag car running I'm guessing in the 10s?

Thank you for your input!

electric fuel pumps are better pushers not pullers so you'll want to mount it near the tank. I would have gone half inch line or an8. It was suggested for me too do it and I have less motor. Don't know if it'll hurt you or not. I'm also running a stock tank. I know a lot of other do too and run faster. They may have baffles something idk...

I agree with the clone on the pump location and 1/2" line, easy to do in aluminum, and rubber mount the pump, won't be as noisy and will last longer. It's better to have extra supply than not enough and calf at half track. With the fuel you'll be moving wouldn't hurt to rear sump the tank.

I use a stock fuel tank with a 3/8 sending unit and line up to my 850 DP. Mine is a street car so I like the stock tank. I use the Holley black electric pump mounted back next to the tank. When I race it I try to have at least a 1/2 tank of gas so the sending unit stays covered and I have had no problems like that. It works good on the street and at the track for me as I have no problems and it has not starved for fuel. Its run 10.70's at about 125 in street trim which is through the full exh and pump gas. Also I only run one carb a Holley 850 DP. The 3/8 line works good for me but if your going to run two carbs I would just go ahead and run 1/2" line to be sure you get plenty of fuel. I enjoy the fact that my stock fuel gauge works good since mine is a street car as its good to know how much gas is in it all the time. So many of my friends seem to have so much problems with their gauges working good all the time with fuel cells. Good luck to you. Ron

I use Aeromotive 1000. Supposed to be a longer lasting pump for street use.
