This has probably been asked a thousand times... but does anyone know why there are two vents coming out of my fuel tank? One is routed up into the trunk and returns through the trunk floor and is hidden under a shock mount. The other one just comes out of the fuel tank and dead ends eight or so inches away. Fuel occasionally squirts out of this vent. I don't know why. Help.

Is it a car originally built for sale new in California?

Since I posted this, I finally got a good answer from the helpful people at Tony's Parts. The second nipple on the fuel tank is for a vapor separator located in the engine compartment of some B-body cars. I don't think my car came with one originally, however, since the fuel tank is a replacement it was manufactured to accomodate a car with a vapor separator. Anyway, I plugged the nipple @ the tank and no more fuel leaks! Thanks to Tony's Parts!!

I guess I misunderstood what you were referring to. I thought you were speaking of the vent lines fron the filler tube to the tank.
Yes, Hipo cars have a fuel return line that goes to the carb and back to the vapor seperator and then back to the tank.

Which outlet is which? I have same problem.

Thanks - now when you say hose on the right, you mean drivers side?

Will plugging the vent cause any unwanted effects? Like vapor lock?

I've had fuel pushed out the vent tube on a warm day also. If a simple plug is the answer I'm all over it!!
