Hi all I was looking at and have been for years to get anothe garage put up. I've taken over the house garage (cant put our cars in it) with my Coronet R/T project.

Im looking to put one up out back of my house to put the Coronet in and also the lawn mower.

I thought about doing a wood built garage but they seem a bit high. I then thought about all block garage but that will probly be as high if not higher then a stick built garage.

I wanted to know has anyone used Steel Master or know of anyone who has?

Also do you know if you can paint them?

Tell me what you think of them if you have used them or seen one. Also any ideas of what other directions I should head in.

Im looking at a 20x24 or 24x24 with a 9-12 foot ceiling.

I have talked to steel master buildings in the past and they would call ever week to a month and bug me that they had this deal and that deal right now.

I was about to buy one but again the stroke happend and I was unable to do it.

Thanks for any info and help everyone.

If you're planning on having a lift in the shop, you'll need 14' walls (these are 18')

Wow that is a nice set up and man WOW.

I dont have space for a big garage like that but man I wish I did. I wont have a lift but that is something to keep in mind as you never know what you might have later on.

I live in the city and a Metal building is something I have to check more into but think my neighbor hood will allow with its rules. I know I could get by with a block one for sure.

I posted on another site that showed some metal buildings and color choices where nice and that would help get me into the rules of the neighbor hood.

Keep info coming guys.

I priced every steel building I could find, I got the best price from Premier Steel, I purchased from them. Had it for 3 years now, still happy with it.

I will find the correct link and post it here, I got mine at a "steel" no pun intended, , I need something not too big, just to store a couple vehicles that were completed, just to get them out of the work area, I had a pad poured 24x36 and finished for 2 grand, the steel building was 4 grand, it was 24x36 with two 10 foot wide roll up doors and one 36 inch walk in door, so 6 thousand dollars later I had housing for up to 4 cars in if I run them in two deep.

and I got to my pick roof and siding colors.

My city wouldn't allow a steel building, so I had a 24x32 pole garage shell built. I insulated the inside, added a gas heater (needed in Ohio), had a slab poured. I had the roof shingled and vinyl siding to match the house - it is pole construction but looks like regular construction but is a lot cheaper. I couldn't make the sidewalls high enough to allow a hoist due to code restrictions but at least I now have something with plenty of room for cars and tools.

Building permits are required here, and they want 550.00 bucks for them, ......but the Law here also says "if it is built without a permit and is completed before it is caught by the Building inspectors or County Officials , it is considered a pre-existing structure and nothing can be done to remove or demo the building in question, or to the structure that is in place, no fines or charges can be levied against owner or builder."

I had them to bring lots of help and work really fast. :tongueflap:

Last place I owned I built a simple 8x10 storage shed built. Pissy neighbor ratted on me - 1) no permit, and 2) too close to the lot line. We had no grandfather clause like 60hemirunner. They wanted me to move it or remove it! I had a sloped lot and there was no other place to put it. I had to go before the building commission. Lucky for me my councilman was a friend and a car guy and showed up and saw that I was about to get screwed. He said the back yard had a drainage swale and if I moved it where they wanted it would flood my neighbor. That was a total fabrication, but I got my variance. It pays to have friends in high places. Yes, I thanked him with some adult beverages and some car parts I had lying around!

Thank GOD !, I got good neighbors on each side of me, They are both car Guys too, but they both have some serious flaws, ones a Chevy Guy and the other is a Ford Nut,:rolling: , they both put up buildings like mine after I did, They grew some Nads and tried the "Anti Red Tape Approach" after they saw I got by with it.............they got by with it also, but we did have an Old Lady two houses down start screaming Two days after the last building was finished.
