Gas Cap ???

I converted mine to ECS. Year One had the tanks on sale so I bought one. Then proceeded to make my own vapor tube. It works great and no more fuel puking out in the frame. I did not use a return line though. I vented the (return) line to atmosphere above the axle,so I didn't need a vented cap. Looks stone stock except for the home made tube in the trunk. Got no idea where to find a liquid/vapor separator.

Let me know if maybe you would like to swap a new filler neck for yours.

Hi Chuck - Thanks for the offer but I would like to hang on to it. Since I'm using standard fuel lines for the supply and return, I could easily return it to stock if I ever wanted to. I'll hang on to it so I can do that.

I completely understand. Just wanted to make the offer.

Next dumb question. Can i still use the existing gas cap if it's not the specified one for ECS.

I have'nt been able to get the pix yet due to work schedule. But the scenerio is, i have the ecs tank on the car. I bought recently a ecs gas cap from someone. It doesn't fit my filler neck. My current gas cap looks like a std run of the mill cap. I'll try & get some pix tonite. I was just wondering if i would incur any problems if i hook up the new lines without having the correct gas cap on.

Got your PM Chuck, here's my take. On the ECS, the line connected to the 3-hose cap on the valve cover is connected to engine vacuum. To prevent collapsing the gas tank, the gas cap must have a vacuum vent. The ECS gas cap is essentially a check valve which allows air to enter but not exit the tank; the standard cap is sealed & all venting is via the gas tank vent tube. You must NEVER put a standard cap on a car with functioning ECS or your gas tank will collapse. You could make it look like factory ECS by blocking the line to the 3-hose cap & venting the line to atmosphere somewhere out of view. If you want it completely stock you must find the correct filler neck. Dropped by my storage place & snapped a couple pics. This is a 100% original setup including cap/ filler (& paint/ chrome!). If you look really close you'll see the date on the filler seal is 10-16-1969, 2 weeks before the car build date!!
