I recently filled up my gas tank. The next morning I noticed the grommet was leaking. It's barely leaking. The tank and grommet was replaced in the fall. Does it need a new grommet? It kind of looks like the filler tube needs to be pushed in to the tank further.
Any suggestions?

If it leaks heavily you could have a real problem. If you have an electric pump it's easy. You can disconnect line at fuel pump on engine and empty it from there.

I replaced the tank in my '71 Challenger a number of years back and have had issues with it seeping from time to time ever since.
That one does look a little crooked so hopefully adjusting it will clear up the problem. Mine looks installed properly.
I was able to rotate my grommet around a bit and maybe that helped it seal better as the seepage seemed to clear up for a time. But later I noticed it seeping a bit again. When installed shouldn't the installation of the components be tight enough the grommet is difficult or impossible to move though?
Is there any sort of lube that can be put on the inside surface of the grommet when doing a tank installation to aid the sealing between it and the filler neck?
As long as I don't fill the tank much over 3/4 of a tank the fuel level is below the grommet enough to prevent the leakage. It's still a pain in the butt though.
I question if the quality of the rubber in grommets has gone down just like so many other things in recent times?

A silicone grease is what you're after. Like dielectric grease
