Gasoline smell

Thanks to all. I haven't prept the car to go out just yet.
Weather is getting better so maybe next week.

I'll try addressing this utilizing some of the recommendations.
I'll post back after we're up and running.
Again, thanks to all.
The knowledge here is invaluable.

I've been on this site since 2008. I've learned a lot....

My 65 Sport Fury always seemed have a gas smell after driving it. I thought it was coming from the tank or vented gas cap and wafting from there but one day found it by accident. I could never find any drips of gas in the garage so never considered a real leak. One day after driving I had it idling in the driveway and noticed a drip on the ground under the fuel pump. A bit of research found the fuel pump fitting wet but only leaked at higher rpms. I tightened up the fitting and no longer have the smell. It don't take much of a leak to cause a stink so diligence is king. A strong odor points to a leak rather than a vapor.
