G'day,

I have a lovely Coronet 66 here in Sydney.

I have a question; what is the best tool to undo the aluminium/chrome exterior parts? (specifically the rear tail chrome strips near the dodge sign (above and below the dodge sign) I want to restore these trims and correct the paint on the trunk near the tail lights.
Including the Dodge sign (take out and clean it up)

Any assistance with a specific photo/name of the tool would be helpful. I want to do this correctly as my own project without heading to the smash repairer asking for big dollars

Many thanks

Open the trunk lid and look at the trunk edges for nuts and studs holding this trim on the ends.

The center on the trim will be clips and the best tool is a wide flat screwdriver from the bottom edge so if any deformation happens it won't be visible.

As said look for any nuts holding the clips on. Pretty typical on the ends. Plastic interior trim tools can work pretty good also. A lot depends on what clips are there. Through the years they could be swapped out with repairs so they may release differently.

Thank you R413 - great tip. Appreciate your comments

Thanka for the feedback on the clips mate.
The car was restored back in the early 2000s apparently so I'm hoping they are sturdy clips.
I'll have to look at certain tools specific for interior trims that I won't scratch the duco.
Cheers
