Anyone have a good source on the GE 1034 Amber Turn Signal Bulb?

All my local parts stores have the 1157NA. Bought 1 and installed this afternoon. When I have the hazards on it flashes but when I have the turn signal on it does not light up.

Looks like next weekends project is to switch out the other bulb which is an old 1157A as it's working correctly to see if it's the new bulb acting up.

Learned that the 1034 was upgraded to the 1157NA in the early 70's.

Also learned that the A = Amber Coated and NA = Natural Amber

Did you change the bulb because the turn signal didn’t work?

Nope. Noticed that the bulb was burned out or so I thought. Turns out that when I had all of the lights on the side marker light on that side was also dark. That lead me to believe that I had a ground issue, so I cleaned up that metal on the side marker light & re-assembled it, which lit up after I cleaned up the metal. That confirmed that it was a ground issue, but the old 1034A bulb, which was probably original to the car separated from the base due to it's age.

These prices are crazy!

I guess I don’t understand why an 1157A bulb won’t work. They have the same base, same overall size, they’re just a brighter version of the 1034A. Sounds to me that the socket needs a good cleaning.

I'll be using an 1157A seeing they superseded the 1034A. I did clean the contacts.

Does it have to be the GE brand? You can't tell when it's all together.
I would stay away from 1034A, the A stands for amber, but it's a coating that will burn or flake off. 1034NA is better, the NA means Natural Amber, indicating that the colour of the actual glass is amber, not just a colouring on clear glass.

Docent have to be a ge brand. One thing though I noticed was the new 1157 was tougher to push in which I assume is due to the fact the base or the bumps are slightly larger than the original ones.

Picked up a nice set of NOS 1157A's off ebay for $20. 74 with free shipping.
