Wondering..
Does anyone have experience with Gear Venders?
Interested in knowing how you may or may not like their OD units.

Aside from cost, which is always a factor, does it work as advertised?
Shift in 'manual' & 'auto' mode; smooth and reliable?
Any benefit in actual fuel savings?

I like their warranty and potential in a "6-speed" auto.

THANKS!! AJ

I have bought 2 of them (one not installed yet) and am happy with the performance. I really like cruising with my 4.30 gear now. I had no issues dealing with the owner.

I have one, but also not on the road yet. Hemirunner has one and he had nothing but good to say about it. They are a strong piece so I doubt it'll ever break due to HP.

Yeah I drive and race mine frequently. We’re at 700ish HP on motor and close to 1000on spray. I don’t run the auto shift feature as I have a manual valve body 727. Great product, great people. I highly recommend it.

I have one sitting on the shelf waiting to be installed. Just need to change rear gears etc... first.

On a side note, has anyone had any issues with the tail housing? It seems like its a lot of weight hanging off the back of the trans and the fabricator in me wants to build some kind of support crossmember.

I think if Hemmirunner is using 700hp + a 250hp shot of nitrous and not hurting it, I doubt the static weight will be a problem.

The supplied extension housing is a lot beefier than the stock casting.

I think it was SMR trans, that has a shorty style setup. I think it uses the motor home short trans. Not sure if the OD unit is different.

I do NOT have one... but some google searching around the web leads me to believe I wouldn't count on a "6 speed" as much as a "4 speed" auto.
You could have 6 speed auto low, engage GV, 2nd with GV disengaged, 2nd with Gv engaged, etc but why do that?

To do again, I would go Gear Vendor. The Tremec TKO 5 required cutting, leaks like a sieve and has 2-3 shift issues. All I really want is a highway gear. The nay Sayers back in 02 claimed GV was complicated and was really a 55 Chevy thing.
