Gen 3 Hemi Swap > Comprehensive Cost and Parts List

Metal tank, mine is noisy also. #6 both ways with a Regulator.

Thanks for the reply, so you used exact one ATX listed, Holley 12–314? It says right in the description of that part that a regulator is not required.

Interesting. I was considering the Holley refit kit because I have a new tank and it's a bit cheaper. They also have a return-less setup I've looked into. I was also looking at the Aeromotive setup. I wonder if theirs is any quieter.

A return less set up isn’t gonna last. A return system keeps the fuel cooler. Always use a return.

I will say that the cars I have built with an in-tank pump noise has never been an issue at least to me. My Cuda has an external pump mounted to the frame on the passenger side and I don't even hear that much, sure my hearing is a bit compromised but I have had noisy electrical pumps before and I know the difference. I would run an in-tank pump with a return for sure.

SB B-Body 727 - No speedo cable issues or shifter issues or kickdown issues

Hemi 8 bolt hardware and torque convertor bolts

I fabricated my own dust shield and used a mini starter mounted on the drivers side.

When I started my swap I found a cheat sheet done by Herb McCandless. I have bolt in exhaust manifolds with heat shields. If you didn't know that the 5.7 wasn't available in 1969 my car could pass an OE inspection. I have this engine detailed like a production line install. I love it when people ask me how I got a serpentine on a Gen II Hemi. Most never realize.

I'd love to see more of your build, and Air cleaner set up.

Hi, I’m building a 69 charger with a 6.4 crate and the new TKX 5 spd tremec. Got mostly everything ordered . 2 questions please:
Was the Holley fuel pump module you used loud ?
I called Holley to ask about that part # for noise complaints and the guy I talked to really had no idea. I believe it’s internally regulated at 58 lbs, so no regulator needed. It does show you ran a return line back to the tank ? What fitting did u run that to?
Also said you used a factory challenger electric fan assy, did that plug into the mopar harness, and how much fab did u need to do to get it to fit the radiator ?
I was planning on a complete radiator/fan assy from griffin or similar , upper and lower hoses both on right side.
Thank you , Matt

I only hear mine, when I go to start it, and then I don't notice it.
I didn't have a return line on mine, since the fuel pump doesn't have one.

What intake are you using?
I have the Mopar Performance that came on the early 5.7 crate motors. I put the coil packs under the intake and that was before Mod Man had theirs available. EFI's only had one throttle body. If I did it now I would have gone a different route. I did A LOT of custom fabrication for the look and it is simpler now. Two fours under an air cleaner would look so much cooler.

I am using a 2019 Crate engine and it has that roundish stock plastic intake but I want to attempt to build an air cleaner system similar to what you have going on there. I'd love to using the Indy valve covers but they are stupid expensive and I don't want to relocate my coil packs.

The Valve Covers were $600. I rationalized that it was like an engagement ring I was purchasing for the car.

This is a great thread - my '72 Satellite wagon has been sitting next to a complete '05 Magnum R/T 5.7 drivetrain (engine and trans) for years, waiting for me to get off my *** and start the swap. Car is currently a 360/727/8.75. I'll definitely bookmark this thread, great stuff!

You just saved me HOURS of sourcing. I was just looking up engines and found some for really decent prices (i.e. a 6.4 w/trans and 30k miles for $2500). I just keyed in what it would take to swap it and found Holley. Keyed in some other words and found this thread. This is great!!! My swap may be done sooner than I was expecting.

$2500 for 6.4l and trans is a great deal. When I see them come up, engine alone is usually $7k+ and that's with 80k-100k miles. Make sure it isn't priced that way for a reason.
