Okay I have a 64 polara with a 383. The motor sits way to far foreward as you allready know in these cars. Now I ran across something that hinted to a later year K member moving things back. Is this true and will my 64 stuff bolt to the late K member or do I need everything. Also what do I do for the trans mount and will the trans fit in the stock tunnell.

YES it works fine. i have it done to my 63, its moved back as far as possible with a oe max wedge crosssram.
once everything is bolted up, you have to modify your trans mount or iirc use the later style trans mount. depending on which year trans. you are using. if your using the early pushbutton trans. then your original crossmember needs to be modified.

i have a 71 e-body k-member in my 65 plymouth,now i get to use later oil pan and headers.much cheaper.and disk brakes that are factory,mark

I have a complete "kit" for the relocation you are talking about. I just pulled it from my 64 Savoy Stock Eliminator Max Wedge car.

From what I can tell, here are the parts needed to make it happen.
-Later model K-member
-motor mounts
-modified trans cross member and mount
-set of Hooker headers (jet hot type coated) with #2 cylinder down draft

Everything else seems to be standard Early B Body parts (spindles, control arms and such).

I am coverting everything back to Stock legal, so if anyone on this board needs this "kit", I'll make them a deal!

Hi- Cap Automotive makes some nice tubular setups you can use almost any headers, oil pan, starter, can even get a set of tubular upper & lower controll arms, disc brake & a rack& pinion steering if you wanted & still have way more room than you did before. I have used a bunch of thier stuff/parts & I have had good luck with all of the parts I have purchased. Good luck. Budnicks

I actually have one of those CAP setups in the for sale section as we speak... just sayin, lol.

Started taking the later model K-member out of the 64 Savoy Stocker. I noticed that the idler arm is different on the K-member end. It's held in double shear as opposed to single tie rod style on the early model one.

I will post any other differences if I come across any.

Lots of good info. Im not needing aftermarket front end stuff. They are nice and have some experiance with them.
I need to collect more parts before I do this. I might be better off getting a complete car and parting it. I need some better gears, the ones in it are 2.70 somthings. LOL.
