anyone here ever disassembled a non working glove box light and repaired it? I’ve tried 3 junkyard lights so far and none of them work. So any tips on fixing one?
Ive been hooking it straight to a battery. Whatever is wrong is inside the actual light. I’m guessing rust or corrosion keeping the contacts or whatever is in there from making a connection
Gotcha. I haven’t taken one of these specifically apart, so (maybe) silly question, but you have tried a replacement bulb, or looked at the bulb contacts?
Additionally, I can test my spare and see if it works, if you care for me to.
If you have an ohm-meter, hit it at thepoints shown in the picture, with known-good bulb installed.
If like this, you get no continuity/open circuit, the switch is either bad or contacts that hit the bulb are too dirty/loose to work.
If it tests good but still doesn’t work, then make sure you are getting 12v from the fuse box, and that the hole in the glovebox where the socket fits isn’t rusted, dirty, or loose.
For what it’s worth, my spare tests good on the meter, though I haven’t tested it with battery power.
Without a bulb in place you can check continuity at switch itself between outer chassis as shown and spring inside ( which makes contact with bottom end of the bulb )
