Going camping....Dennis H style

Looks like a great time! Did you notice, while you were checking the one out on your right, the one on the left was checking you and your car out. View attachment 525103
I noticed that too. During the trip got a lot of thumbs up and such. The first night at the campsite a couple of guys my age walked by and were checking out the car so we got into a conversation. One of them was a Mopar guy from way back, owned a Roadrunner and a Challenger back when you could pick them up for a couple grand. That's the cool thing about driving older vehicles; if I had the 4runner than they wouldn't have stopped. Instead I had a beer with another car guy.

That looks like it was a great trip away from home. The scenery is definitely very cool, and is the sort of place I like.
Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Wifey is away for the weekends with the girlfriends, left to my own devices I decided on one more Sierra camping trip. This time, took the Dart instead of the 4runner. Camping alone, no cell service for miles in the off-season, in a 50 year old car. What could possibly go wrong?

You're pitching a tent without the wife? I hope you have plenty of Kleenex.

Very true. I took my Firebird (Coronet wasn't running or registered) to Yosemite a few months ago. Had several people (guys and gals) ask if they could take a picture of it. You don't see too many old muscle cars around and especially in a National Park.

With the carb, idle was expectedly poor at elevation, but otherwise the car ran flawlessly.

Tell me about it! When I moved to Reno, I drove my 300 up from Vacaville @ 100' MSL. I'll tell you what, That car did/does not like idling at 5200' MSL. I still can't get it to idle any smoother then a big lumpy cammed car, but runs smooth at speed. Good job!

Right; over 2,000 rpm the engine was smooth, acceleration was crisp.
