A few members here know that awhile back i had tore my rotator cup in my shoulder. Well after about 3 months of physical therapy, my shoulder is at a standstill as far as getting any better. Went to the doctor today for a reevaluation and he has suggested that i go for surgery. I only have a 1 centimeter tear in the muscle but it is about 50% deep. Guess that means i'll be out of the truck for 4-8 weeks. Wonder if i can get anything done on the RR with one good arm while the other one is healing. This is still a couple weeks away but i guess it is inevitable none the less.

Good luck "roadrunnerman"
Yeah, you will have some "down time"
You could detail the Roadrunner up a bit.
Do some tinkering etc.
Is it your "dominant hand" shoulder?
Best thing is to get healed.

Good luck to ya man!! Might be hard with one arm but being your a gear head, ill bet you "gitter done"..

It is my left shoulder and i am right-handed so that is a plus. Thanks guys, and your right i will be seeing what i can get done within limitations of course.

good luck make sure you mark the area there going to work on you , you never know ,you could end up with your own boobs enlarged :headbang:

Best of luck, I wish you all the best... My biggest limitation when I messed up my shoulder was I couldn't lift allot of weight above my head or full rotation of motion for a while, I had a total separated/dislocated left shoulder in my teens, it tore everything in that shoulder, ligaments, muscle deltoid & trapezium, rotator cup, tendons etc., no nerve damage "thank God", from a Football injury, very painful, it took 18 months to fully heal with physical therapy, to get all the motion back & that was when I was young, the doctors & procedures are much better now "I would immagine"... But back then 1976 even I was told by my older sister who's now a DR/VM Veterinarian, she was an DR/Internist at 1st @ UC Davis, before she got fed up with all the bureaucracy in human medicine, anyway she had said the surgery & scar tissue, from that surgery, while being a much quicker fix, is/will be &/or more than likely be, far more intrusive in my latter years... Rotating between Heat & Cold worked very well, I barely even know it ever happened now, I never had the surgery, the coaching & school Dr's were trying to make me have, I played for another 10 years, just needed to be wrapped up {always played with a small 5lb dumbell/weight, for many years, even while sitting watching TV, to rehab the whole shoulder}, wrapped so it couldn't be pulled out, as a precaution, it's been ex-rayed recently & looks normal supposedly now @ 53 y/o... I hope you got more than 1 opinion, especially if it was the specialist or surgeons opinion, they have a tendency to want to cut way to quickly sometimes... Best of luck either way..

If they do, they would be larger then my wife's

Budnicks, i hear ya on what you had to do. I'm 51 and this would be the first time i would ever have to have surgery for anything(circumsision doesn't count) We had this planned with the first doctor i saw and he said if the therapy doesn't work, then it would be cortezone shots or surgery.

I'm feeling your pain

That's funny, I did the cortisone 2 times a year for a couple years, I really hate needles, I didn't think the therapy was working either, but it's amazing what the body can heal, if given enough time, that is a big factor in many decisions, I'm sure too... I hope it feels better soon....

A good friend of mine had rotator cuff surgery about 6 months ago. He couldn't stand it anymore. He's 100% now and glad he did it. Hope you have the same outcome.:sSig_goodluck:

My Wife is recovering from shoulder surgery about 2 weeks ago. She had a partial tear and bone spurs with some arthritis. The scope procedure was done through 3 small incisions. She is in a sling most of the time for another week and started therapy last week. Good luck with your procedure and hope you have a speedy recovery.

A fast recuperation to you, roadrunnerman -- and just remember to keep that working right hand from clicking the "Buy" button on the Summit/Jegs/Rock/YearOne/eBay sites while you're in the "take it easy" period.

Therapy for that injury took me 7 months its been over 2.5 years now it bothers me all the time but mine was more severe I tore the bycept the rotater curt and the upper spinatus muscle from back of shoulder blade was off 11.5 months yes you'll be able to work on the care just not so much strenuous stuff with that arm I was working on mine and playing pool and stuff but with pain good luck it'll be a ok

Good luck. Surgery sucks, but sometimes a last resort.

Good luck, I'm procrastinating on shoulder surgery myself. Keep us informed on your progress. Who knows, maybe you'll inspire me to have mine.

tell you what. if you are in constant pain now, a little more pain for a short time and then none, is worth it. they have been in my one hip 3 times. ask for the prognosis.

Enjoy the down time and let things heal up right before you get into detailing anything.
