We had a few jumpers off the golden gate while I was stationed out there in the 70-73 timeframe. Between our helos and a couple small boats we'd usually get the call to help retrieve the body.
The big problem with jumping from that height is unless you somehow manage to stay upright all the way down and go in feet first (which will smash your nuts but good if you don't have your legs crossed) you don't splash into the water. You actually bounce off the water, which turns most of your insides into mush. I guess if you're to the point you think suicide is your best option none of this matters to you though.
