A couple of pictures of my grandparents 1962 Dart. Slant six, two door sedan. Not too long after buying it they drove it from Detroit to California in the summer of 1962. How’s that for a break in cruise? The picture with Grandma is Easter 1963

Do you own it now? If not, where is it?
No. When they bought it, It was their second car. It was mainly driven by grandma, with most trips less than 10 miles. They kept it until she couldn’t drive safely, then sold it. Grandpa drove much more stylish cars. He had a dodge two door with some nice fins. Then in 65 he bought a two door hardtop Polara with a 383 4 barrel. Soon after buying that car they and my family drove in two cars To California in summer 1966. Eight people, two cars, Detroit to California.

I love these stories. Many of us rarely drive our cars more than 25 miles from home despite them being restored to better than new.
If you wanted to, could YOU drive your car cross country starting tomorrow morning?
