Graveyard Carz Getting Into The Clone Business

I'm sure they chose this car not only to give Tony's part more exposure but to also showcase their mantra of "bringing dead cars back to life".

In the end the effect is much more dramatic if you show pictures or vid of this long forgotten RR that's been partially stripped and left for dead, and then when it's finished show how they were able to take it to the Superbird level. Another reason to choose this car is it was the same color as the customer wanted, giving it (again) the dramatic effect of the before and after shot. It IS a tv show after all, and what decent show doesn't thrive on drama? And yeah, they could have found a nice driver Satellite to start out with but that's not really what they are going for. They don't want to take one off the street and fix it. That's too easy.

That guy, not the show is a total disgrace to the Mopar industry. He is such a Richard that I will no longer watch it.
Years ago Tony screwed me on parts and a car and I will never go back to him for anything.
Chryslers at Carlisle has a policy that no motorsed vehicles are to be used during the show.
You will see tony all day long rushing about in his golf cart practically running over people.
Total disregard for the rules.

Okay... nothing against clones, but here is the car they posted they were going to use as a base for this project:

Why would you start this project with a ragged out rusty POS that's going to need most everything replaced/restored instead of starting with a nice driver?

That question is an easy answer. It is because of the relationship that Mark and Tony "D"...Tony D Augustino of Tony's Parts...have been developing for the show. A few weeks ago there was a segment where Tony came out to help Mark with the plans on the new facility for incorporating a section of parts specifically for Tony's Parts there in Oregon. Tony's business is located in Deleware. Tony is donating this carcass to the project. And I might add why the hell not use it? With the available body parts being re-manufactured and all else this car can be pretty much restored and made into the tribute car that Mark wants to make of it.

Your choice I suppose. Still they both, Tony and Mark, regardless of the bad experiences you had, are doing a far better service to the hobby and MOPARS than either you and I can ever envision accomplishing. Am I a big fan? You bet I am. You on the other hand, even though in a minority I would guess won't be watching any time soon...cr8crshr/Tuck

Coming from a rust belt guy that car don't look to awful bad to me as long as the rails are decent.I've saved worse and so have many others on here.

IIRC that's Mark's mantra...

I personally don't have an issue with the clones "at all" either,
maybe that way, hopefully it'll be probably driven that way at-least...

Could be a good & possibly informative/interesting build/project...
I've considered doing one myself, or a Daytona preferably even better...

I always thought Mark's deal was bringing them back to factory specs always,
{only a handful of people in the world, can do this...LOL}
but have seen a few cars now, that he's taken some liberties with,
along with some variances that are at the customers requests too

Yeah, he's such a hack. How dare he do something at a customers request and show that on the show and make comparisons between it and what a real factory produce car would be.

Sometimes Graveyard Cars seems like a commercial for Tony's and AMD. I think it's a safe bet Mark gets something for his trouble.....

There's little to Mark or Tony regarding promoting Mopars. They are all about promoting themselves and ensuring a cash pipeline. Period. Haven't met Mark, certainly don't need to given his ego. Nothing he does is special or hands above many others in the same business. NOTHING. I've had dealings with Tony - I stopped letting him beat me up to buy my parts in the 90s and I've never bought anything from him as a result of those experiences. Years later he screwed a close friend and tried years later to make amends when things got out on the net about it.
These cars, and their market, is a dying deal. I love Mopars and won't give them up myself, and I appreciate the aftermarket support we currently enjoy (don't expect that to last, BTW). But these two clowns have been all about raping enthusiasts for the mighty dollar to allow them to build their own collections before and during the explosion of the Mopar market. Not any special commitment to the buyer. They are both businessmen first and foremost.

Personally, in all my dealings with Tony D as a buyer and seller he has been top notch! He has also introduced many repro parts that are high quality correct parts that were not readily available. Via NOS or good used pieces and at a very good price point. I can only imagine the costs involved in "tooling" new parts along with the marketing....

So what if he wants a profit? So what if he is able to purchase something for himself....Is that not what an owner of a business wants to do......Apparently, with the new parts available, Tony is taking some of those profits and producing New OE correct parts. Heck, I was able to get a correct date stamped fan clutch and thermostat housing for example......
