Green axle bearing collar

Why do you keep assuming that the components are "damaged" during installation? No evidence to support that.
IF you do not have access to the FSM tool that is shown or hydraulic press to gradually push the bearing into position, HOW will you install it? A hammer and drift pin? Or by some other method? Perhaps, you have never damage a part during installation, specifically a bearing or some other precision close fitting part? I have seen, too many times, while in charge of a 70 man maintenance department which included 40 millwrights in a large chemicial plant. Most of the time damage occured in the haste to complete repairs and short cuts were taken.....hammer and drift pin or the brute force and blind ignorance method. I speak from 40+ years experience.

If you don't have crankshaft grinder, how do you grind a crank? If you don't have a valve grinder, how do you overhaul heads?

Answer: Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and take the part to a shop that has the equipment. No harm, no foul.
