I picked up my dad's '63 Sport Fury this summer. He passed away ten years ago, and this was the last car I helped him restore back in the 90s. I was surprised when my sister told me she still had it, so I got it. It has all the problems you would expect from a car that ran very little for decades and not at all in ten years. I was told the last time it ran it sounded like the timing chain jumped. The chain was fine, but I decided to put in a double roller while it was apart. The timing chain cover is rotten, so I need to replace that. I understand the later 318 LA covers will fit so I plan to do that.

I'll be checking the top end and changing all the fluids and filters before trying to start it: engine, trans, diff. I'm also going through the brakes and tires. Any other suggestions?

It's been fun getting under the hood of this car. My dad was nothing but Chrysler products his whole life, so that's how I was raised. My first car was a '57 Savoy that we built together, had a 318 from a '60 Dodge in it. I departed from that path decades ago, but still remember a lot. I'd forgotten how simple these are to work on, but the parts are a whole lot harder to find now.

Cool ride

welcome to FBBO from NorCal Sierras

Welcome Nice car. So, How did SHE end up with it and not you??? Looks like you're going to
have some fun! Keep us posted. Sounds like there's more to the story?

Welcome from NY.
How cool you have your dad's old car still.
You're pretty fortunate in my book.

Welcome! NICE to get your father's car and '63 SF no less. I have a '63 vert (not a SF). Curious as I thought the sport version didn't have the 318 (assuming this is what it may have looking for the 318 timing cover). No expert; but in my travels they typically had the 361 and larger motors. Suppose it could be ordered with it though..

You've come to the right place. Anything you need to know is at your fingertips!

Glad to see the car is staying in the family. Real nice looking SF, love the color!

Welcome to FBBO from Ontario. That is a real nice looking '63 Sport Fury in a great colour. My Mom was going to buy a new car in 1963, and as a 16- year-old gearhead I tried to talk her into buying a 1963 Fury. It did not happen.

Welcome from Georgia. Pretty cool having your dad's car. Nice car.

Welcome from Panora.
Cool car , glad you got it.

Welcome aboard from Ohio.

Welcome from Alabama, great looking Sport Fury. A few mechanical issues are a whole lot better than body, paint, and upholstery. Enjoy!
