I assume that the factory used a braided copper ground strap to ground the chassis to the engine in my 64 Belvedere. Does anyone know where it was connected and what it looked like? Right now I have a small cable coming off the right rear of the engine going to a screw in the firewall and it just doesn't look right. A picture would be helpful. Thanks, Smitty

Chrysler didn't use a copper ground strap! A heavy stranded wire(10 ga. I think) it was screwed to the firewall and bolted to the pass.side head on the rear, covered with rubber! It had over spray on eng. end. What you have is correct! Hope this helps!

Yeah they did. Braided copper wire grounding strap, flat, around 1/2" wide.

Normally goes from that screw hole on the pass. side of the firewall, to the rear bolt hole (intake surface) of the pass. side head.

One I have, has been tin flashed, that simply holds down corrosion.

On my 63 Sport Fury I added a battery size cable ground from my firewall to my eng. If you look close at the back of the passenger valve cover and right below the orange ECU box you can see the end of the battery size cable as it has an eyelet on both ends. But thats a nice size stud right there sticking out of the firewall and I bolted my ground to that as you can secure the ground much tighter then you can with a screw into the firewall. I bolt the other end to the last intake bolt on the passenger side which you cant see in this pic as you can only see the end on the firewall. Ron

Some models also had a ground wire from the negative battery cable to the radiator support.

Can't believe something so simple, gets so complicated!

Any of the stock iron heads sported the 'extra' bolt hole for the grounds. Driver side...battery to motor ground, pass side motor to firewall.

Not my damn fault those high dollar aluminum heads makers are too cheap to add ground bolt holes. Ohhh, maybe a lousy ground, you say...

Yeah...is kinda funny.

Guess I was in one of my foul moods the other day. Ha!

Moparsmitty...on 64s, the firewall ground screw hole should be just behind/above the pass side head.

Thanks guys. I found a correct ground strap online and installed it yesterday. Looks a lot better than the homemade POS strap that some previous owner stuck on the car.
