We added the Bee to our policy with Grundy, and were surprised to be billed at over twice what was verbally quoted to us. We were told that premiums are now figured by Philadelphia Ins, who took Grundy over some time back. (The Nova was 'grandfathered' in with the old price of $228 per year, renewed earlier this month).

So, we're shopping for insurance...any recent comments or advice is appreciated!

I haven't looked recently either have you tried, Hagerty classic car insurance stated value ?? they were inexpensive at 1 time... I have all mine thru AAA it's not cheap either mutiple cars & house, 1 car, 2 pick ups, a boat & an RV 5th wheel... like $2K a year for both me & Pops with a 2000 mile limit on the RR @ $30k stated replacement value, they never have checked any mileage, except my 99 Dakota 4x4 maybe that I may put 2k a year on, driving to town & back...

Taylor Classic Car Insurance

i have Haggerty on my 70 RR. its covered for ANYTHING with a pay off of $28,000.00 for $245.00 A YEAR! The car is on its own policy and not combined with any of my other vehicles.

I did on-line quotes with Hagerty, JC Taylor, Chubb and Heacock before I went to sleep last night. Heacock is coming in with the lowest premium, but we all know that's not the only consideration in Classic Car Insurance. I'll follow up on Monday with some phone calls.

We already have AAA/Century 21 for our 'civilian' vehicles, so I'll give them a try, too. I didn't realize they sell Specialty Car Insurance.

My concerns with Grundy began with having different information given to us about adding a car during two separate phone conversations. Then our via US Mail overnight application, including pictures and copy of the bill of sale, was lost in their office. A customer service agent issued a policy to us without that documentation, then our quote was doubled. Philadelphia Ins is "re-evaluating their underwriting for specialty car products" according to our last conversation. Needless to say, I'm not feeling confident with them at this point!

don't blame you for being nervous. loosing your paperwork and then double the price would make me nervous. i am in a standby mode my self. haggerty bought the company i have been using for 6-7 yrs. and i am concerned. last time i had a experience with one buying another my bike, harley, insurance took a big jump.
keep shopping and asking around. good luck, rick

Heacock is based in my area. They are good people and really are car guys.
The prez puts on a really nice car show every year and draws people and cars from all over the world. Sometimes real exotics show up, and some times there's a theme.
A couple of years ago, there were like 50 Panteras alone.
I posted pics of the last one.

i haven't recieved my new policy from grundy this year yet.
i have been with them for 19 years.
never had a claim, but if there doing that crap.
you can bet i'll replace them.they really have us over a barrel.

I also have Grundy for years.I had a hard time in the beginning because they said they don't insure "race" cars. With some convincing they issued me a policy at the "modified" rate for my street car.

We've had our ProStreet Nova with them for 4 years, no problems, renewal came through fine earlier this month. It wasn't until we tried to add the Bee to the policy that procedures became, well, sloppy seems like a good word. I did put in a complaint after they double checked with underwriting, and explained that if Philadelphia wanted to lose all of their collector car customers, they were off to a good start. :angryfire:

WE LIKE IT!!! I don't remember seeing anything like that the last time we were on the Island...

I have my 66 coronet with statefarm on an agreed value of $24,000 for $190.00 a year. I do have all my insurance with them so they say I did get a good rate. I checked grundy last year and they were nuts with the price they wanted. Haggerty is cheaper than what I pay now but I have been to lazy to make the call.

I have Grundy through Spokane Falls Insurance, the 70 Duster, 73 Duster, 41 Chrysler and 69 Bee, $273 a yr, never had any issues with them

:headbang: Thanks for the pics, and that way cool offer!!!!! No plans to get there anytime soon, but we won't forget...

We made the decision to go with Chubb. Agreed value of $40K and $32K on the Bee and Nova, respectively, for a yearly premium of $599. There are no mileage or use restrictions (except racing, as with the other policies we reviewed). They even have a no-interest payment plan, which was a nice surprise.

Our premium refund has been processed by Grundy, and I expressed a vote of 'no confidence' to them. Hope that Philadelphia Ins gets their 'act' together and continues to offer classic car insurance in the future, but for now we're more confident with this switch.

Because my Satellite was considered "modified", Hagerty wanted over $900 for an assessed/agreed value of $55,000 (nut & bolt resto receipts verified). Grundy wanted $565, and with a copy of the certified appraisal, Condon & Skelly (oldest classic car insurer in the country) gave me full coverage with 100% agreed value replacement cost for $360 (full yr).

HEMI-ITIS, in the second picture in your post there is a red '62 Dart behind your car. Do you have any info on that car? I ask because I have a buddy with several of these cars and he is building a Max-Wedge Clone. I guess the word clone should be used loosely as he is building more of a street driver. I think he is currently dropping a 413 into it and he will have the car in Pigeon Forge in a couple of weeks at the Grand Rod Run. It is primer orange with slotted wheels if anyone happens to be there and see him.

It's possible that your insurance agent is also appointed to sell Haggerty, so I'd check with your agent. They don't always work to get you the best rate, if State Farm pays higher commission they will keep you on a State Farm policy.

Real Simple here...American Collectors Insurance. They don't just do Cars.
