I will be putting headers on my car at some point. Right now it has a custom dual exhaust from the stock manifolds. Whoever fabricated this exhaust system, has each running from the exhaust manifold, straight out to the back. In other words there is no crosspipe (H, X or otherwise) connecting the two exhausts. My question is, when I get around to installing the headers (TTI for my poly 318), should I leave the configuration as it is, or install a connector (H or X)?

x pipe if you can install one(h pipe at least)crossover balances scavaging for both sides.its free horse power.

I had an H pipe on stock exhaust - produced a 'cackle' under acceleration. Now have headers with an X pipe and no cackle....just the sweet sounds of Mother MoPar streaming from the rear end :)

X pipe is proven to make more power. The x pipe will also give you more artuculation when you install the exhaust to the headers make this much easier in my opinion.

Yup, X is better, H it better than nothing. It usually reduces the sound some too and placement of the mufflers away from the headers will also reduce the sound some....
