I have had my 63 out about 5 times so far this season and Saturday I took it to the local cruise spot. Everyone was laying into it when they left so once I pulled out and had it straight it got the best of me and I planted the right foot. Well I tell you it spun like crazy but still took of like a rocket ! I am used to the car but man it felt like it left me there and I was holding on. Then it was getting sideways to much so I lifted before I even hit second as it was just getting to squirrley. I rarely lay into it on the street and I dont street race as its not worth the trouble and I tell you it only makes about 600 hp but it is so easy to lose it if I nail it and I am not straight. The slicks dont hook at all on the street when I have about 30 lbs in them. But boy do I love the power. Now I gotta do some super tuning this year and get 10.50's. I do love this hobby. :hello2: Ron

Great outline,
To tell you another story. I good friend of mine has a 800+RWHP (High 8's 1/4 mile) turbo fox body mustang that is street legal. He used to street race the car when it had a 430RWHP/tremec combo and was cleaning house. Eight or Nine months back, he lost to a 11 second tubbed blazer due to not being able to get ANY traction on the street. I believe their gets a point, where your combination is just over powering the rubber capabilities on the street and gives an advantage to lower horsepower and 'big tire' cars. Not exactly what you are talking about, but sort of the same situation. Too much horsepower and torque, not enough traction.

Ron- Awesome! I go to a weekly get together that has all kinds of muscle cars, ferarris, lambos, etc. There is a strict no burnout policy, but every time people head out you can just tell they want to romp on it. Glad you got to actually unleash it!

Ron, wish I could have been there......

I figure my '63 is more show/sound.....not that kind of BIG go....you have.

Ron, you just have to 'let go' once in a while
I would rather be feared than have people give you $hit.

& you showed 'em who's in charge!

Congrads Ron!
600 HP...? YIKES !
Looks great and I'm sure everyone truly enjoyed seeing it. Glad you had fun . Your correct, this can be a fun hobby/sport along with it being a "Labor of Love". It's a ride-able usable investment!
I'm hoping to get my 63 Polara on road soon. Pulling "her" out of one body shop and going to another.
BTW: 600 HP is "lots of power" !!

Thanks for all the kind replies. Ron

Good luck with hitting the .50's this season Ron! I think you will do it!
