Sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss, I know how hard it is to be forced to do that. Prayers to you and the family.
It is, I had my dog for almost 20 yrs he too was my best friend, I had to have him put down but that was down in the back room, it was hard receiving him back afterwards, like I let him down.I did not want any other pets after that.I agree and though it is hard I also think letting go is a way of showing how much you truly love your pet.... To often I've seen people who keep their dog alive much longer than is fair... When you keep the pet alive for yourself & don't consider the suffering of the animal your being selfish.. As much as it hurts (Believe me I know all to well) you should really think of what is best for your friend...

Fast forward a few yrs ago my wife and I adopted an older hairless Chihuahua, she was mainly my wife's dog, but I was a close second. She had some genetic defects that affected her liver and though she wasn't terribly old we ended up having to put her down. I was holding her in my arms why they put the solution in her IV and feeling her stop breathing and go limp was the hardest thing I have ever experienced... I'm tearing up thinking about it now....
I know it was the right thing to do in both instances but like B70 they are our "kids"... they want nothing from us but our attention and love.
