First of all no pics (didnt have a camera). So we were on the way to do some shooting at a range about 80 miles away. Not exactly sure why but we did. i can shot 100yrds at the house. It is in the middle of nowhere in western NC. I think on game lands. Its open sunup to sundown and free to the public. Its 100yrds with 5 lanes. Three of us spent about 4 hrs siteing in rifles and just having a good time. Everyone that can thru were nice and just enjoying a friday afternoon. BUT heres the drool factor: one fo the guys had told me about a late 60s or so charger a couple weeks ago. He said it was probably about an $8000 car from the road. It about half way to this range in an area i just dont go thru often. So i see this car and have to stop. Turns out to be a 70 charger 500 (383, at, dana 60 bucket seat console car) looks to be a driver with some issues. Its not rusted out but does need some attention. more dings and dents than rust. The big problem is noone around because the shop is closed for lunch and on the way back had already closed. So now i have all these ideas running thru my head and dont even know if its still for sale. Was told it had a for sale sign a couple weeks ago but it didnt today... well you can all guess where i'll be headed on monday. Hopefully i'll have good news next week. The only down side i doubt that its $8000 my luck it will be $14000 (i know its not worth that but to many barret jackson fans in the world)

Ok so i left the thread hanging but im still trying. I finally got the guy to answer the phone on Wed. The customer came in wanting to sell. He offered $5500 but was turned down. The car was left to work on with the plan of making big $$$. The guy told them it would take $8000 or more to get $13000 out of it. The garage guy is going thru a divorce and will move his business by Dec 1 and the car's going too. He did say he would put me in touch with the owner if i came out there. NOW heres the deal ( i know its a long shot) I need to know the vin code to id this car. It has a 383 a/t in it but has DANA 60. That doesnt add up to me. So what do i look for? I know im just getting my hopes up that someone had pulled a hemi out of this in the past but would like to know the vin letter attached to hemi cars. Oh im trying to get up there tomorrow since i now have the story

Thanks for the quick response. I'll have to print that to keep. Im thinking of feeling the owner out for cash or possible trade on my 69 barracuda notchback. Also have a real nice 84 renegade as well as other projects. Im hoping to make a deal happen before someone else grabs it. If the economy wasnt in the crapper it would probably be gone.

Assuming that really is a 383 car, it did NOT come with a Dana 60 under it. Maybe someone put it there. Maybe it's a 9.25, which is easy to confuse for the 60. But it didn't come with either of those

I just got back from looking at it. It looks like a 318 car if i remembered correctly (5 digit G ). The owner had told the guy it was all original.....I told him it was worth about 7000. He said that was the best offer they had. The owner has ideas that they can pay off about 12000 debt by selling the car so i dont expect a phone call.. The car has some dents but no real rust. The 383runs fine. The interior is fine. Everything seems to work but if i dont get it at 7000 i wont feel too bad about it.
