Has anyone ever sold a car this way?

Do any of you guys know anything about FSBO Vehicles or VSS Classics on eBay? They claim to be EBay's #1 rated For Sale By Owner seller of vehicles. Some guy from there called me wanting to try and sell my car through them...for a fee of course.

I don't know anything about them, but if you can't sell your car, what can they do that you can't?

They manage your ad. Here's a rundown:
MISSION
To assist our customers in buying or selling their asset quickly at the best price, with integrity throughout the process our classic shop.

FSBO SERVICES
  • 7, 10 or 21 Day eBay Auctions and 60 Day Web Packages

  • Pay Per Click (PPC) Internet marketing for top spot placement

  • Google AdWords Platforms - SEO

  • Professional on site photographs

  • Assistance with Financing

  • Inspection Services

  • Transportation Services
So, if you would like to have your eBay listing "professionally" done and "managed" they can do it, they say. And yes, they add a fee on top of what ebay collects for your sale. I don't ever see me needing a service like that, but someone might.

"For Sale By Owner" kind of loses something if someone besides the owner is selling it.

It's comical, all of these "new" methods to buy a car all claim it's car buying the way it was meant to be. I have no problems paying for an ad that gives my car wide exposure. But I'm not going to pay a commission to someone to sell it.

Is it commission or flat fee? Can't be cheap, especially for the photographer.

Sell your car on your own. Craigslist?Sold 2 on craigslist no problem . good luck how did they get your number?be careful

Are you selling? If so, what is it?

'70 Super Bee 383 4 speed. It's on page 5 or 6 of the Mopars For Sale forum on this website, also CarsOnLine and AutoTrader.

this must be for the millennial retards who can't walk and chew gum at the same time........ once they pull their head out of their phone, they are lost

While I'm not going to pay a commission to someone to sell my car, this type of service may work for someone who has a very busy schedule. And while millennial's can be quite different, the entire lot is not retarded. I'm sure there are plenty of "mouth-breathers" in your generation, too. Hold on...there's a kid on my lawn...

my wife's kid, 25 with a 4 year degree can't handle selling his car because he is socially retarded; so it falls on me......... this idiot would end up getting robbed.... we are doomed

Funny. I have experience with some that do not want to get a drivers license, too much responsibility. Frustrating, and sad.

Like anything else if you don't want to do it or have time to do it, you have services that will and charge a fee for their services. I've sold over half dozen cars the same number of ways like C-list and Cars.com and just parking the car in front of a friend's business along a busy street. If the car is overpriced or a pos expect a longer time to sell it; though having sold pos or two they've gone quick too.

Nice car. The market for these Bees is a roller coaster, especially the '70. There's a green one, much like yours, bench seat, that has been floating around the Mecum auctions. It had a decent bid at one auction - didn't sell, then sold at another auction, then showed up at the next auction. It was in the high 30's. A auction format like that might be something to consider as far as getting more interest, but that format does cost money.

I absolutely love my '70, it's so different than anything else. But seems to me that the '69s are an easier build and an easier sell. Sometimes I think to myself, 'Why'd you get the hard project? Could have just bought a Chevelle and made life simple. But noooo, you had to be different.' Then I have a beer and all is fine again.

Good luck with your sale.

There's always someone looking for inexpensive transportation. Then again, if you have a Maserati, its generally Overpriced, generally a POS, and takes longer to sell. Trifecta!

Over the years I've sold lots of stuff on Craigslist including large trucks over 25k GVW weight. If you haven't sold much on there, then you might not be able to weed out the scammers as easily. The majority of the scammers all try the same scam so for me, it's easily to recognize them. I'm also always armed when someone comes over to look at something. So far, so good. Haven't shot anyone but one guy got a good threat if he didn't hurry up and leave. That happened probably 20 years ago. Motorcycles is one type of vehicle that I don't care to sell on there and will look to sell those at a consignment dealership.

Yeah I've avoided C-list because I don't want people coming to my remote house. I sold a couple smaller items meeting the people in a public area with security cameras.

So...you have a remote house, which means you have a not so remote house, too. Sounds rather clandestine-ish. You've avoided the C-list, I seem to stay on the S-list.

When I sold my last car I had a call everyday from one of these companies , I kept saying no thanks but they kept calling .They get your number from the advert you put up .
One moron tried the hard sell by trying to list all what was mentioned above I told him sorry got to go I'm busy .
Car sold on its own yours will too ..
