Has anyone installed a torsion bar over 1" ?

Hey doug
Search pst on the forum. Contact James i believe it is. Should be able to use acetone totake paint off.
Pst might exchange them.

I too bought the PST 1.03 bars when they were on sale a year ago.
I am just now getting ready to install them.
but am worried if I should even try after reading this post.
I painted the bars and they are a year old, so I dont think they would refund or give me credit. even though they knew they sold a faulty product. what a waste

Doug,

Please PM me with your information and I will see what I can do on my end to correct your issue.

Thanks

James, that says alot about PST!! Good to see that your willing to help.

My 68 Charger is pretty low in the front... Is that the only issue with these? that they lower the car alot? if so maybe they are the right product for me... thoughts?

I already have the hotchkis rear leafs installed and plan to add bigger Tbars, FF tubular UCA's, LCA stiffening plates, ADJ strut rods, RCD bilstien shocks, FF front swaybar. It would nice to save some cashish on these bars

Sweet charger!

What motor do you have? I have the 1.06 bars from firm feel. With an all original (iron heads, intake, exhaust manifolds) they are a little light for just the spirited street driving I do.

440. Iron heads, iron hp exh manifolds, aluminim intake, power steering, aluminum rad. Not sure what bars are in there now. I put them in well over 10 years ago. I got them from mancini and remember wanting "stock spec" R/T bars as I was changing out the original 318 for the 440.

in a related story, I ended up finding a good deal on a hellwig front bar for 160 including shipping so I went that route...

Got my Hellwig bar in mail as promised, will install tomorrow night or over weekend. Also decided to go with Firm Feel Torsion bars. The potential cost savings on the questionable pst bars didn't seem to add up to me. I talked to Dennis over there and told him my goals for the car, what I had done, etc.. I ended up with the 1" bars, tubular UCA's, Adjustable strut rods, and sector support kit. I will order up the bilsteins in a week or so and I have my eye on the PST fast ratio steering linkage kit. The price is right and it comes fast ration idler and pitman along with inner and outer tie rods along with 11/16" adjusting sleeves. The only issue I may have is my car retains the large sector shaft steering box. I'm pretty sure the idler is different but I called PST and they couldn't tell me what size their idler was. I'm so fired up. I want to install the front bar and drive it around to see what it's like because that shouldnt effect alignment. Then I'll install the rest at once and align again. Can't wait!!!!

Hello DKN 1997

The fast ratio steering linkage kit that we have is only available in small sector shaft ptiman. You can get away with just using the idle arm and not the pitman arm. In fact the original AAR/TA from what I understand only had a longer idler arm. If there is any info that I can help you with let me know.

Thanks

James, while not the news I wanted to hear, thanks so much for responding to this. This is the kind of thing people remember...the fact that a manufacturer took the time to look into something that a forum member wasn't having any luck on.
