I am in the process of converting a standard gauge set to a rally gauge set. I am now looking for new headlight switches and wiper switches. Someone said I need new rods/knobs for ralley gauge so I guess I also need the rod and knobs. Are there aftermarket versions of these or should I just stick with NOS. Any clue as to where I can get these from? I have the dash out so I want to make sure I don't have to replace a 40 year old switch later.

Classic Industries, Year One.

Thank you, but they did not have the Wiper knobs. I regards to the Headlight switch, I am converting from a basic rectangle dash to the Rally dash. Can i use the same headlight switch and knob or will I need new parts for this? What about the wiper? For the wiper, I think I need a special switch for the rally dash correct? As for the knob of ht wiper switch, will I be able to use the knob from my standard dash/switch and use it on a new rally wiper switch?

Any part numbers for my application would be very helpful

I can't visualize a non-rally dash, sorry. Every switch on mine is a rocker switch with exception of dash dimmer switch which is a roller wheel like the radio.

Ok.

Headlight switch is the same for all 71/74 standard or rallye

Knob is diff between standard and rallye. Just available on used market

Wiper switches are different between rallye and standard just due the shaft lenght.

Aside this, the 71s ( both, standard and Rallye ) are diff from 72/74.

I have on my 74 a 71 Variable speed ( not 3 speeds ) just because I like that variable feature. Had to match the plugs from a 71 B body donor harness because prongs are on diff disposition ( they are a bit bigger too ). Plugs are diff because the year not because is variable, 3 speeds or 2 speeds. Wires are the same though for all 71/74 all setups. 72/74 didn't get variable option, just 2 and 3 speeds.

Knobs are diff between standards and Rallyes. Also, just used market.

a standard rallye switch can be cut to the lenght of a Rallye switch. I did it once with a 2 speeds standard rallye switch to fit on my recently upgraded rallye cluster set up, while I worked on get the variable/3 speeds wiper system upgrade.

Just disasemblied the switch housing, removed shaft and shaft column from switch round housing. Cut, some press to fit back and some epoxy glue to reinforce the job amd VOILÁ!

I still have the switch around and can post pics.

I had luck to get the knobs with the cluster though! Well in fact with switches. Since came from a 71, there is where I got the variable speed wiper switch!

Nacho, as usual, you are the "MAN". The knowledge you possess is very scary. Thank you very much

Thanks! Just a bit!

Need to note that the wiper switch knob will fit without problems on a Rallye Cluster just will look somekind weird. Its a bit longer!

Headlights knob, mmmm more less same story than wiper. Would need to remove the rod, cut to lenght then inserted back on knob. Plastic knob is also a bit larger like the wipers one, so aside the diff design, will look a bit weird into cluster

No, definitelly knobs are not available anywhere but used market or NOS if you have luck... And money... Even for the used ones. Sometimes is even better try to grab a cluster with these no matter if more expensive, than try to catch just the knobs itself after get a cluster without them.

Switches... Headlight available at Rockauto, but once again, they are all the same, even for laters and some others cars ( not just Mopars ). Wipers, never have seen them on parts stores on line catalogs, unless I missed somewhere. So for it, is the same case than knobs, used or NOS, or OEM replacements around

Have a question? Do you have the NUTS FOR THE SWITCHES? These are diff too. And same hard to find than the knobs!

You can modify the standard cluster knobs to make them work on your upgraded cluster untill get the correct knobs later and enjoy your rallye cluster fot a while, but you can't definitelly install the switches without the right nuts!

Maybe you can also to cut down the standard rallye nuts and modify them, somehow thought!

Standard rallye nuts are kinda a cup/bezel assembly. Cut down the cup section and keep the deep flat portion of the piece attached to the threated sleeve... Dunno!

Ok here is a 72/74 Standard wiper switch I modified to fit on to a Rallye Cluster side to side to an untouched 72/74 3 speeds switch. I used the 71 variable switch which came with the Rallye cluter I bought to measure the shaft and column and cut to the size. I used this modified switch for a while I still had the 2 speed wiper setup on my car. Worked FLAWLESSLY!

Later, got a 3 speeds switch ( the one on the pic ), but at the end decided to use the 71 variable switch on my 74 once I completed the 3 speeds motor and linkage setup. I found also the switch plugs for it on a 71 harness I found laying around and kept the 3 speed switch as a spare ( have the plug for it saved too )

After get the 3 speeds switch, noticed the one I cut was a bit longer. Thats maybe because the 71 wiper baquelite is more thin than the 72/74 so theymade the 72/74 shaft shorter due the thicker baquelite body for the prongs.

HOWEVER, the switch I modified fit perfect on my dash with enough room on back

Here you can see a bit of the epoxy used just to reinforce the assembly, althought it assemblied really tight!

and here a nut set and headlight knob for Rallye cluster. Like magic I found a Rallye cluster locally with kilometers speedo ( searched for it by 8 years, since the Rallye cluster I bought back then was in the States, so was in Miles ) and this got the nuts and just this knob.

I COULD GET RID OFF THEM ( sell ) if you need them and can't find over there, but... I'm not as you know in the States.

Headlight switch needs to refinish the blue strip.

Another difference you can find on knobs is the 71 got an hex bolt to attach to the shaft and 72/74 were just hold there by pressure with a spring, but is a minor diff.

Have also an extra headlight switch, but you don't need it because is the same than the standard cluster one, and is available new there.

just for references, this is how the back of 71 switches looks like... no matter if standard or rallye, or 2, var or 3 speeds, all they look more less the same. This specifically is variable

another diff between 71 and 72/74, is the 71 can spread the water without turn on the wipers, while 72/74s when you press fro washer, automatically spins out to turn it on on first step, for lower speed
