header clearance

i have a 73 rr originaly a 318 car i put a big block 440 in it but now the header clearance is let than 1/4" on pas side n on drivers the headers hit the gear box every on on here ive talked to says i hould be able to get me hands in between the headers on pass side n shouldnt hit gear box either idk wats wrong if frame was beant they wouldnt be able to get car aligned right??? thanks guys

I'm not familiar with the '73,but headers were always real tight on the passenger side.The correct header would not contact the steering box,can you "ding" the pipe so it doesn't touch?

its just touching not hard enough to do damage i think?
