header gaskets on 73 charger 318

i know on big blocks you have to,but on small blocks do you have to drain block to change header gaskets? are the two end bolts on a 318 in water jackets just like the big blocks?

On the small block engines, the rear and the front on each side are in water jackets. They are studs from the factory.

Yeah studs have been removed since beforeni aquiered the car! Looks like studs going back though

The only time I replace a stud with a header bolt is when clearance becomes an issue. We replace factor bolts with studs every where else in the engine and call it an improvement. Just have never understood the obsession with header bolts.

And these are cheap header bolts too. I could see a clearance on a bolt or two
