Trying to get rid of some antifreeze leaks at header bolts but removing the 3/8 16 studs is a nightmare.Anybody have a good way other than double-nut or vise-grips to remove studs?

They make a stud removal tool that slips over the stud and grips the stud as you're turning the tool. Local auto parts stores like Advanced should have one. Get your money back when you return it.

Weld a nut on, turn out while hot.

Spray them with penetrate, for a day or two will help.

I'm with the kid on this.

Additionally, if you're doing this while the heads are still on the car, you really don't want them to snap off, so I would heat them up cherry red with a torch first and let them cool down some. The expansion and contraction should serve to break the bond with the threads.

I had a couple studs that was stubborn on mine and that tool and wax and heat got mine out!

Bought one of the stud removal tools from amazon, looks like a drill chuck-all came out with no problems!
