Headers vs Max manifolds

Out of curiosity I imagine some dyno tests have been conducted between Max Wedge exhaust manis and headers. How do the Max mani's compare?
 
they perform very well, compared to headers
they flow fine, the upswept design makes for great flow

they are heavy as ****, like 70#'s combined
but unless you're building a lightweight car
it's a great option, for the right car/combo

$1,000 + for repops
the pre-built head pipes systems are expensive too, like $1500 +
you can fab up your own thou

they don't fit well in 68-70 B-bodies thou
been there down that
it's tight to the firewall on the passenger side
& the DS brake MC is extremely close, needs a heat shield or moved
harder to do valve lash adjustments too, especially when hot
heat is high in the engine bay, close to the hood too
may have clearance issues with an Auto-trans Dipstick tube in later years too

edited added,

they do get the valve covers sort of hot,
but not as really hot as the tighter fitting factory 68-70 HP manifolds

But;
with the S/S manifolds, its really easy to get to plugs too
fewer boot issues for the wires too
keeps some heat away from the starter
plus & minuses to them, weight/fit is/was my biggest deterrent

I think the biggest difference in the testing above
Headers vs the S/S manifolds is the headers are 'tuned' equal lengths
whereas the S/S Manifolds have a 'less sharp' abrupt bend
when exiting the heads, which helps the S/S manifolds flow
but;
each tube on the S/S manifolds is shorter going back,
by the length/distance between ports
(another word, 'not tuned' not equal lengths before collecters)

40hp difference between the S/S (higher) & 68-70 HPs
& I'm sort of surprised the headers only were like 4-5 more hp
than the repop S/S manifolds design

kudos the to Chrysler engineers back in the day, done well

Good to know they perform so well. I love the look on my car. I wouldn't ever consider changing the intake and exhaust. For me it's all about looks, I don't race. I think they look so awesome when you pop open the hood. Even though my car is a clone they used actual factory 63 carbs, intake and exhaust. The only other thing I wanted but didn't get was a 4 speed car. When I was looking there was a 63 Sport Fury clone with a 4 speed but it was an extra 5 thou and out of my driving range
 
The original max exhausts are repro'ed, and there are lots of original sets out there.
The tri-y's are extraordinarily rare, and insanely valuable. Last I heard, 25k for a pair.
If memory serves, they were intended to boost power on the 64 Nascar max, but the hemi came along.....
I know there was a mod to the very few tri y max cars on the inner fender for clearance.

Yes those are the tri-y. To the best of my knowledge, there is ONE set in use in a real tri y car. That car is valued at something like triple your "average" real maswedge car.
 
I watched the above video. Noticed the dip in the curve. Also veeeeeeeeeeeery surprised how the velocity valves in the secondaries of BOTH carbs were dancing around at higher rpms. Related?
Would think distribution & air flow would be affected.
I suspect the carbs had the wrong VVs; there were a few types.
