Heart does Stairway To Heavan

Yeah, it was on tv (Kennedy Center Honors), pretty cool! Ann Wilson has got to be one of the best female vocalist ever.

I had two thoughts watching this on TV: First, it's amazing how much an older Ann Wilson sounds like a younger Robert Plant. Second, if I was that guitarist having to do the solo in the song, I'd be nervous as hell playing it in front of Jimmy Page!

Heart have always been BIG Zep fans.

(although I've kinda thought maybe their covers should have stayed in the garage, cause the Heart originals rock so much)

I haven't seen this one, but if it's the guitar player they've had for the past few years, he's come a LONG way.

Saw them a few years ago (without Ann), at a 5000 cap HOB, and he was kinda iffy.

Saw them again a couple months ago at a 50,000+ cap outdoor fest, and he was much better.

My 2nd all time favorite band.

I remember hearing Magic Man when it came out (I was about 8), and thinking "that is so groovy and rockin, and it's a chick- that kicks ***".

I Watches this last night and wow, that brought back a lot! Thanks, they are great!

What a voice, That was great to listen to her this morning, thanks..

IIRC, she used to have a 4 octave range, which is crazy opera/Pavorati type good.

...and she's not afraid to abuse it a little and get gritty, which is something most folks with that kind of ability don't do.

Not too much vibrato, either, which can be a problem for extremely talented singers doing rock.

Rob Halford is my other favorite rock voice that could be opera (or anything he wants). last time I saw him, he was losing it a bit, though.
