Heater hose question

I plan on replacing my heater hoses on my 70 RR. Must be brain fart day. Do I need to drain the radiator first ??

Any liquid will seek it's level, so you'll need to lower the level below the heater hose connections, but.. why not drain & flush the system while yer at it ?

How old are your upper and lower radiator hoses?

The radiator hoses are about 9 yrs old.
