Welcome Dierk! Maybe you can answer a question I've had for a while about American muscle cars over in Europe--actually two questions... 1. What is the cost of keeping those big gas tanks full? 2, Is it a lot of fun to take that baby out on the Autobahn and open it up? Anyone can take a Porsche or BMW out there, but wouldn't it be a blast to take old Detroit muscle out on a highway with no speed limits and let 'er rip? Achtung Baby!
I am not Dierk but German too, so maybe I can answer your questions:
1. It costs too much:icon_cry: Given today`s exchange rate it is 5.20 Dollar per gallon.
2. Every American I talk to is dreaming about going down the Autobahn and having fun with speed. It could be fun, but imho it is not the point when driving with a 50 year old car. I have a `75 Coronet with the 318 (not a real muscle, I know) but I do love just cruising around on state roads or country roads. If I need it faster I take a modern car just for safety reasons. Almost every Autobahn is crowded almost every time, so one goes 80 mph, the other runs 180 mph and sometimes there are only two or three lanes. It is your choice if you think it`s fun participating with a 60ties drum brake car...
Thank you for the nice welche i have a little bit modified 318. Tested it on the highway with GPS speed. 207 km/h was My limit. The car can more. But i needed three lanes to hold it on the street. It was more a challenge with my luck than driving a car.
