Help 71 charger 360 to 440 swap

hey guys i'm new to mopars and i have a 71 charger with a 360 in it that i'm swapping out for a first generation 440 i got with no miles on it. now my question is will it drop right in. i've heard two storys that the subframe needs to be changed then i heard i can put it right in so i figures you guys would know best
 
It will drop in and you don't have to change your K-frame. You will need a big block drive(shorter) shaft and extend some wires but that is about it. 73-74 Charger you would have to change the K-frame.

ake sure you have the mount brackets for the 440. The right side is the same as a 360 but the left side is different not only from a 440 but other small blocks to. Mancini has a small ujoint 727 yoke so you can shorten your driveshaft and keep both joints the same. You also need all of the accelerator brackets and trans kick down linkage. You can't run a mopar without the kickdown linkage or you'll burn the transmission up. It does the same job a GM or Ford modulator valve does controls line pressure. Even the 73,74 K frame swap isn't needed it just takes 74 to 79 big block mounts. And a little pan work on the 73.
 
well i have the 727 trans out of the 66 new yorker i got the motor out of i was planing on putting both the motor and trans in the 71 charger . the trans thatis with the 360 is shot
 
I'm doing the same thing to my 72, just 318 to 440....check out that thread, these guys know what they're talking about.....i'm building my 440 now........
 
motor and trans is now coming out of a 67 imperial 440 727 into an orginal 318 charger with a 727 can i use the long tail shaft trans
