A few years ago my dad and I bought a 64 Plymouth off ebay and only had a bill of sale and now we are finishing up making it a resto mod we need a title.

Any one with experience with this i would appreciate the advice.

we live in Florida.

Thank you for the help.

I'd suggest calling your local DMV to see if they have a process for that. Here in NC EVERYTHING has to have a title to get registered and plates. If you have a car from a state that didn't do titles for pre 1970 cars or used bills of sale you have to go through a bonding process.

I know it is from out state, it has to be inspected by a deputy. Don't know about getting a title. My friend went out of state to resolve title issues. This should be done before you spend one dime on the car.

I actually had a friend in another state title mine with a bill of sale, then I bought it from him, to avoid all the red tape in my state. It had to be v.i.n. checked also.

I purchased my 63 Dodge polara (Black Plate car) in CA.
With only a Bill of sale.
went to CA DMV and they said:
Get a notarized bill of sale....
No problem at all AND I was even able to keep the Black Plates

If you have the time...physically go in with the documentation you have and speak with someone directly. This is what I did when I was registering The Kansas Belle here in Maryland. In my case all I had was the previous owners' 1979 registration card from Kansas and a new insurance policy. Low-n-behold, I needed nothing extra and was able to walk out with a registration! I know, Each state varies.
I realize it can be time consuming, but it is nice when you can say, "This is what Mr. (or Ms.) So-n-so (one seat over) said I needed to bring in (or do)". That way you have a recognized person within the building that gave you instructions. If they are wrong, it provides the branch an opportunity to correct things a do some impromptu traing for all involved. Yes, it may make you the guinie pig, but those who come after you will be grateful without even knowing you may have been the one to blaze the trail!

It's different from state to state so you'll have to find out for yourself. Here in Ohio they are asses about it, the only option I had other than going threw a title company $$$$$$$$$$ was getting a court ordered title which is what I did.

I used Broadway Title. Took about four weeks. In return for my $$$ I got an Alabama registration and bill of sale. I took that to the BMV (Indiana) along with a police report which showed the car was not reported as stolen and indicating the VIN of the car and they issued me a title without any problem.

It took me 2 years to get the title to my Road Runner. Long story and a PITA, but I wanted to be sure I owned the car 100% legally and properly before I spent thousands of dollars restoring he car.

As others have stated, every state seems to be different, so do our research. Florida might be easy or it might be a PITA.

Good luck.
