My dad and I traded a 65 satellite for a 69 'roadrunner'. The 'roadrunner' is a drag car, it has no fenders/fendertag or VIN. the prior owner was supposed to supply us with one, but after the trade went through he never 'found' the dash with a VIN (just one without a vin).

is there ANY way to identify the car otherwise? frame rail, core support, trunk area that would have a full vin or am I SOL? Please don't flame, just trying to figure it out. Dad is sick so we cant race the car. Having a heck of a time trying to sell the car as it has no ID of any type, which means its a 'off road use' only vehicle.

This does not bode well for you mate..Sorry to say. I hope you find some way around it, but from all I have heard on the matter, in the US getting that car sold is going to be difficult.

yea. pretty much what i've figured out. need to 'rebody' the car from what i understand. in other words find a rusted out hulk and swap everything over.

Evidently then you bought a car without a title, bad move.Go after the buzzard that sold you the car !!

Purchase the front clip from a 69 bel or satellite and make sure you get the dash. Then you have the VIN and a plate. I have found those for $350 or less. just move over parts of the front clip.

cant buy a old car with a title in this state. Anything more than 20 or 25 years old (dont remember which) no longer has a title. Pretty dumb... I think VT does it too.

was actually thinking along those lines. Have been on the lookout for one. Thank you for the advice though RGAZ

in some states it is against the law to sell a vehicle with out the proper id and paper work

Unfortunately, without even one tag, it's hard to identify the car. On my 68, there are body stampings on the tranny, engine, trunk drip rail and the radiator support. Even on the 69, the Vin (or the last part of it) will be stamped at the same places. It's easier to verify a real RR with the '69 plus cars.

Are you sure it is a Road Runner? It could be a Belvedere, Satellite, Sport Satellite, or GTX depending if it is a post or hardtop. Many states its also illegal to rebody a car and in some states the body vin sequence stampings have to match the vin on the dash and title for inspection when required.

fender tag and dash tag aren't the only areas with your id and I`m not talking about the radiator support and rear trunk area on your body that are marked

This may be a dumb question, but do you not have a title? If you know what it is titled as, you can at least know what to verify against.

car has no title, prior reg... nothing. car has been a drag car for a long time from what I've gathered.

it was a trade, not a sale. still could be sold, but not as an auto without a bill of sale etc.

this state and VT do NOT have titles for cars older than 25 years.

it was traded to us as a RR. however i put the roadrunner in '' for a reason. It could be anything. Honestly I dont care at this point. I am looking for a junked belvedere, satellite etc. that I could use the core support/vin/fender tag to turn my car into a 'real' car which would make it much easier to sell, or put on the street.
