HELP ! Just did something really dumb.

Adapt a small hose up to your shop vac and fish for it.

AMAZING idea! I'm going to try that tomorrow!

The problem with the flexible claw is that it has about 2" at the end that do not flex. So I can't get the right angle at it to grab it

Dont feel stupid. Anyone who has done much of this hobby has done something like it. The vac and hose sounds like a good thing to try. Good luck keep trying.

well I tried the vacuum idea, just can't quite get it. The piece is slightly to left , not in direct sight from fuel pump opening. I can get right up to it with the bore scope, but getting it out is another thing.

I am just going to bite the bullet and drop the oil pan. So I have to drop the center section of the steering linkage, and then the pan should drop down. Easy enough hopefully. So i will need to grab a new oil pan and windage tray gasket . ,,,,

Before you drop the pan go to a local floor covering tool distributer store and ask for there siga tape and put a glob on the end of a clothes hanger and fish it out. That **** is sticky as hell. If you are able to make contact it will stick. If I were in you position that’s what I would do. Good luck.

I actually have some of that tape. I just tried one more time and its just not going to happen. THe piece has slid, back towards the center of the engine. If it was a straight shot just down from the fuel pump I 100% I could get it . But its down and to the left I can just BARLEY get touch it with the scope not enough to get anything on it to pull it out.

Dang I really thought that would work for you. That tape is some sticky stuff. Well good luck. Removing the pan is not to bad of a job.

Well I got the POS out!

Dropped the pan. Just as I was pulling the pan down off the block I heard it moving around.

honestly not the worst job in the world. But still one I should have never had to do !
